Don't know if it's just me but I am having to constantly close/reload the new version in my browser as it either just freezes or crashes.

That was happening to me also. Everthing is cool with v2!

The link is at the bottom of most pages in v2 and is in the first post in this topic.

Why is it taking too long to match a game? Some times it simply does not find a game. The previously update was enough. You guys just mess with chess.com.

Check your seek settings and make sure the rating ranges aren't too narrow.

The main page is already the new version,so i guess i will have to log in on the new version. went to look for tactics trainer (puzzle) but couldn't find.

so went to look @ home, settings,etc..,by the way the settings are about settings only can't find vacation settings how much vacation time left.i like the old version more where it shows time left and the piece diff., rating comversion etc.,still can't find it.changed to old version had to log again... and presto! Just a advise a new version is pretty much welcome but please copy the original placement of thing/s so as not to confuse (us)  who are not that "techie" hoping for your favorable concideration.

Tactics are in Learn > Tactics and vacation time is listed in Settings > Daily. Pretty much the same location the were in v2.

100% because you HAVE to log into V3 in order to change to V2, so the numbers are wrong.

When the question was asked, v2 was the default.

It was dated 3 weeks ago.

You really don't know how to read, do you?

Angevine posted that question May 15th, 2016, over 6 months ago. I obviously was not talking about when you replied, but when the post you quoted was. wink.png

I don't know anything about this Version 2, but the site as I am experiencing it is clunky and slow. I've also noticed a bug in the tactics trainer that I really can't understand how it could possibly exist. My overall impression is that the background software must be a huge pile of spaghetti.

Martin_Stahl

Did you report the bug you are seeing?

Pilchuck

No official bug report yet, I only found out today that such a thing exists. Learning curve...

the new site really sucks there has to be properly tested by some people  mix of people who are experienced players and some long time players

i am not a member but i have been playing for a very long time

one of my beef is that when i am analyzing a game a new window use to open up in the new one it just open on the game boar itself.

Hi,

I would like to make a suggestion here.

I usually play daily chess. I prefer to create custom challenge. Every time I have to manually select the options like days per move, opponent minimum games etc. It would be great if these preference could be saved. So every time I want to create a challenge, I just hit one button.

Secondly, there should be a dropdown to ask for the number of games I want to create as challenge. Like, I generally start 3-5 challenges at a time.

Finally, the above mentioned suggestions should be available on mobile app as well.

Thanks

I started a thread on my 'home' page about how bloated this site seems to be, and how the memory on my laptop is being sucked into oblivion by it. I was using Chrome, then I tried it out on Firefox. If anything, the latter was worse. When I last shut it down, the memory usage was at over 600 megabytes.

So I just now restarted in Chrome again, and somehow it came up by default in V2. Holy moley, what a difference! No more interminable page refresh rates, no more confusing navigation. One of the more irittating things I had noticed was trying to view archives in vote chess. Being new to the site, I wanted to review the games I have joined, and I could find no way back to the current game state without going back to the group page, then to the vote chess link, then picking the game. And each step with a close to 15 second refresh rate.

But now I'm using V2, and not only are there no refresh delays and annoying text window delays, but in vote chess archives, there's a link to the current state right there on the page! Plus reviewing the moves is simple and obvious and fast.

Maybe what the people who are running this place need to do is create a separate domain name, one for the bloat that seems to be aimed at the mobile market, and one to continue the site that actually works?

I noticed just a while ago one other aid to navigation in V2 vote chess: There is also a link to a page containing a list of all the user's current vote chess games. If that exists in V3, I haven't found it yet.

I am very happy with the lack of serious lag and ease of navigation in V2, but I also notice that the site periodically switches itself back to V3. I suppose it's just a matter of time until V3 is the only option, and then, well, oblivion I suppose...

V3 is terribly unfriendly with V2 you could analyze the game with clicking the the tab a new window opens up but ib the new version it just replaces the game window

i am a non paying member since 2008 this V3 really sucks

if i  put some of the faults it take an hour to read.

u421031

@ Jovan do you think they care.

i have my doubts that they even read any of this

they have not tested it properly

they just threw it to the public hoping they the public will tell us what is wrong and then we will try to fix it.

extremely poor public relationship.

Posts 7 and 19 were by staff. Post 88 bumped the topic (which was almost 5 months old by that time), so I can't say for sure staff is still following this particular topic but they are on on some other v3 topics for sure.

As for testing, you can argue if it was done properly but v3 allowed testing starting in 2014 and has been receiving new features, updates, bug fixes through the whole process. It was open for testing by anyone in January of this year, for sure, and has received continued feedback, upgrades and bug fixes.

Making it the default at the beginning of November put a lot of new eyeballs on it and the site has been working through that feedback, making changes, fixing bugs, working on performance. I have been on the v3 for over a year, closer to a year and a half now, and the vast majority of it works well. But they certainly are listening and anyone following the process can see that.
