Time Control Changes?

Please consider 30/30 and 45/45.

I actually don't understand time control -

5 | 2   30 | 30   etc. what's it all mean?

45/45 & 90/30

My suggestions!

25+5 will work well!

Keep 5 min.

And also add longer time controls, i.e. 45+45 or 90+30

I played blitz twice... it was 10 | 10  or something...wasn't really paying attention to the clock...this brain doesn't function well under the pressure of the clock...goes straight into overdrive and blunders galore

I really would like 45/45. But 20/20 would be interesting too :-)

I don't really like short games so I would prefer anything longer than 30 minutes. Get rid of 30 and add 45 or 60. 25 5 doesn't seem like a big change, hardly worth the discussion.

Chess is a much more elegant game with longer time controls. Please include at least one longer default setting, 45/45 or 90/30. Thanks!

        25/5 sounds an interesting idea, but why remove 30?

I think the default time controls should look like this 1/0, 3/0, 5/2, 10/0, 15/10, 30/30, 45/45, and 90/30 sense we can only have eight. I'm personally in favor of the long time control changes because I see no point to the videos on this site if you don't have the time to use that knowledge to the full. And I would choose 10/0 over 2/12 Dan!!!

RG1951, Because 25/5 turns out to be about 29 min. long....... I dont really think its worth the change

30/0, 45/0 and 90/0 (or 25/+5, 40/+5, 90/+5), The most of times the add time only turn bored a game finish (theorically).

WHY on Earth would you REMOVE 30/0?!?! If anything the site needs to add 45/0 and 60/0, and NOT get rid of 30/0

If it is removed I see no reason to renew my subscription, as I don't have any interest in bullet and blitz chess. To the OP, if you don't like 30/0, leave it alone and play other time settings - Don't try to influence how other people play on this site.

How about 1/1? I'd like to have increment for 1 minute games.

Which makes me wonder... Why are we wasting time arguing about this?

Why not just give folks the ability to add their own custom buttons and be done with this discussion? If a lot of folks like 45/45 or 90/30 (or any other time control) then it'll be useful for them and their opponents. 

Could be as simple as asking the user to save a time control if they enter it in custom.

Pool style play 90/30 , 45/45 would be the bees knees!

In fact, the more pools the better, I think pools are the best way to get a game...
