I do not get your point. What did you do where?
Titles must be real
Actually chess.com does require proof, The following is from one of the Help & Support articles:
Please read this article for details on all the benefits!
When you're ready, you can submit proof of your title, and we'll get you set up quickly!
If the title is written in red, then it has been verified in real life.

This has nothing to do with requirement. Google that word please.
Edit: but thanks for the links :-)

Thank you! This is good information.
Well chess.com should send every unproven titled player a note to submit a proof and if that dude does not do it in 3 months or so, the title gets removed (but can be restored later). A blue and a red title is better than nothing but not a true solution.
A blue title should just be considered part of their name.
Like: IM_an_idiot.
Haha, yes, that would be ok too.
Good posts whatisherenow. How I wish FIDE would limit the number of titles or tie it in with percentiles of existing players. (...)
Disagree about that. So a dude can not become GM because he was born later? No, that would be unfair.
Dude
Firstly, you use the word "dude" WAY too much.
Secondly, they absolutely verify titles. Please supply an example of someone who is on this site that you think has a title that is unwarranted.
Thanks, dude.
Chess.com does check validity of titles. But some fakes slip through the net it seems. However some titled players are 1700 at blitz because they are old, or just jackers (like that invented NM title).
Dudes, maybe real name of the dude + link to uscf or fide entry of the dude on the dudes userpage should be enforced by the chess.com dudes. i mean, that dude gets a free diamond account, no? Thanks dudes.
Edit: No, seriously, im better in my native language, sorry if i repeat some words often. Suggest some other words! "Person" sounds too objective, what else is there?

He liked my "IM_an_idiot" comment, though.

FM, IM, GM etc are titles in chess for which a dude has to work hard. Like Dr. in medicine. If someone is calling himself Dr. but is none, and gets catched, he can go to jail. It is unethical behaviour to wrongly use a title. It makes these titles be worth less if everyone can use them without owning them. It is also frustrating for the dudes who really own those titles and who have worked hard for them.
chess.com does not check if the titles are real (unless other chess related sites, like eg. ICC or schach.de). This is for commercial reasons as they can say "we have more GMs playing on this website than exist in real life" etc etc.
However it is cheating. There are a lot 1700+ players with IM titles playing on live chess. This has to change.
chess.com should force dudes calling themself IM or GM to prove it. For example by giving their FIDE ID or USCF ID or ICCF ID during registration. These players should also promise that they tell the truth and should be clearly informed that, if they are found lying, they will be banned from the website, paying member or not.
This is not a 100% safe way but it will increase the amount of real FMs/IMs/GMs drastically.
