Unfair Play Rules

Yes, I think we are all "victims" here. Relax, have a beer, and watch "Hotel Rwanda."
Agree 100%.

To whom it may concern. I have been a member of this site for several years and have been a victim many times of the unfair tactics and had to wait for the clock to expire. Now you post new rules supposedly to punish the a-holes who violate. Well guess what I just got punished for violating your so called new rules and didn't violate SQUAT. My opponet let his clock run out and I get punished. This is BS. I will be looking for a new site.
Ron Kauffman Screen Name soccrby5. I bet I won't get a reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had many opponents do this, and I never got punished in any way. I don't know what you are talking about.

Methinks the punishment is that the gentleman was banished to the forums and ordered to post ten nonsensical topics before being allowed back into the "live chess" area.
:))))))))))

I can't figure out if the OP is trying to say someone was allowed to make an illegal move or what. I'm not sure what additional penalties there must be for losing a game to an unforseen tactic. It's like a free chess lesson. Rating is just a number and can always go back up with improvements to your game.

Yes this same BS is happeneing to me too - see my other threads. THe people that run Chess.com seem to be clueless.

Basically, it's like this:
Player A takes a LONG time to make a move - finally they do - but they took SO long that player B dosen't notice right away. Player B contemplates their move - and BOOM suddenly rom out of nowhere, the SERVER deceides that player B took TOO LONG and forces the game to be abandoned with player A given the free win, EVEN THOUGH Player B had plenty of time left on the clock.
In otherwords, it's another bullshit policy thanks to the clueless people at Chess.com
DEAR CHESS.COM:
If I have TIME LEFT ON MY CLOCK, and I AM STILL CONNNECTED, then there is NO EXCUSE FOR FORCING THE GAM ABANDONED, regardless of how long I might take on a particular move.
And if you are suddently going to CHANGE THE RULES OF CHESS, then you HAD BETTER TELL EVERYONE THAT YOU HAVE DONE SO.
I've never gotten the "abandoned game" in a situation where I didn't have a temporary internet disconnection, but maybe that's just me.
I have had a few situations where I had a clearly won game, and rather than resigning, the opponent would not move for 7 minutes (in a ten minute game), and then finally move with maybe 2 seconds left on his clock. When this happens, I usually just start another game. I'm able to see when the opponent moves, make my move, and get the win on time. However, it's possible that one could just assume the opponent was letting time run out, go on with one's life and do something else, only to yourself lose on time and get a fair play warning. And that would suck.
