Why Not Have A Move Take-Back Option?

you request a takeback and then your opponent has to decide wheather we wants to give it to you

Takebacks suck.

The only reason I stick around Chess.com, is there are no takebacks.

That's just ridiculous.

Allowing take-backs is a terrible idea — even for unrated games. Actually, except for matches and tournaments with prizes, all games played here are casual no matter if rated or not. The inability to take back moves forces you to be disciplined. It penalizes carelessness. And that helps you to break bad habits.

i had a training game against an IM in a rapid time control - he mousesliped his castling and moved the king only one square towards the rook- of course we agreed to a takeback as otherwise the whole game would have been spoiled- some people are just playing to learn not for some stupid rating points

you can disable them in your settings, or if enabled you can ignore them either way there is no takeback if you dont approve it

So my opponent has 3 seconds left on his clo k, and is going to mate me in 5 moves.

I can just start spamming takebacks, and make his clock run out?

Sound good.

he can ignore them and play on + you only can send one which of course is immediatly declined after he makes a move and it occurs outside the board barely noticeably

and with this logic you shouldnt be able to have a draw button hence it could be used to spma the opponent, - luckily takebacks are much rarer

spammed this thread quite a bit so i will unfollow it now lol

Yes.

But we both know Chess.com is going to put takeback pop-up right over the board. Most likely right over his queen he is trying to move.

There's no way he is going to be able to decline all five requests as well as move 5 times, in only 3 seconds.

Think positive!

It is communism my friends. They want you to suffer after making a small mistake!

But then I suppose that is what the resign button is for.

I thought it was capitalism that punishes you for having made a small mistake, like buying Nortel stock before enough share value to buy a house suddenly melted down to enough to buy a refrigerator.

That is true.

Socialism actually rewards mediocrity.  Not punish it.

No take backs.  Players considering several moves can forget which ones they were thinking about before the take-back occurred and confuse which ones are good candidates.  That's one reason the touch-move and no-take-back rules exist.

We are planning to add this to live games between friends. It's already possible for daily games if you choose that option when sending the challenge.
