I don't play online tournaments but it seems logical that the next player would move up.

Yes, the closed account should allow the next person to move on. At one point that wasn't the case.
Though, there have been some other bugs with the tourneys this week so it's possible that might not be the case.
So I'm in a daily tournament currently, and a person who was most likely to advance to the second round had is account closed. I'm assuming that the player underneath them takes their spot, but I want to be sure
