Automatically claim victory when time runs out!

In what type of games does this setting actually get honoured?  I have it switched to 'off' yet since I changed it I have still won 2 or 3 games on time in tournaments.  Does it not count in tournament games?  If not then which games does it count in?  Just friendly games, that I almost never play anyway?!

And while I'm asking, if/when it does work, is there an option to manually claim the win on time if my opponent just fails to move for days?

It does not count in tournaments and after 60 days it will claim regardless of the setting. As far as I know, there is no manual claim, but I haven't played Daily for a while, so I guess it may have been added.

I'm almost certain it doesn't count in tournament games. I believe it is honored for any individual correspondence games, including rated games. After 60 days, the claim will happen automatically. There is a manual claim I believe, that works the same as claiming a draw by repetition or by the 50 move rule.

These 60 days for a daily game are rather much too long for me when the opponent has left the game .

I like to claim the win when I a have an advantage and resign when I am at disadvantage , but when  it´s equal or unclear who´s winning I would prefer to have my rating remain the same and not getting points without merit . Otherwise it´s bothering to see an abandoned game for 2 months in my list of active games .
