You will get a rating even if you lose every game. If you haven't played 20 games it will be provisional.

I am a very amature chess player but I want a chess rating just to tell people that play chess. As far as I know I have to enter a tournament to get one. I don't care if its really low.
As anyone here got one. If I lose every game will I go home without one?
Also I want to cool rating that Kasparov got a 2812 in, I know they are probably others.
Is this a rating that only the last few people in the tournament gets or do they give it to everyone?
