Why are 90% of the tournaments always minimum 100 players?! This is too overcrowded. We need cosy round robin tournaments of 10-20. This is a more human number.

Look at the olympics swimming, springting, soccer, etc etc ... its always 10-20 people competing at once. We humans are simple limited creatures we don't scale well.

10-20.

In a round robin of 20, you would play 38 games at one time.

Cosy?

Not necessarily -- it could be done in stages.

Totally agree. That's why I organised a tournament with 20 players - four groups of five. I thought that it would end up being quite a quick one, but we have one player who is incredibly slow. That's all it takes to hold things up considerably. Next time I'll make it two days per move instead of three, and no vacation. You live and learn!

Now that I've played a few more tournaments.. I take back the stages thing I said...
Couple of players go into holiday mode after every move and it will take decades to finish the staged tournaments.

Just 10 players... no stages! happy.png
