Those other round robins that aren't part of the norm tournament are just normal fide rated round robins.
Chess Futurities?
Talk to Robert Chenault he can explain: I think basically it is a way for lower rated players to get there FIDE rating. Otherwise a regular tournament over those days that they mentioned
A "Futurity" is a chess tournament.....that features "up and coming" chess players who are likely to perform well in the future of chess (if you stay alive)....thus the word "futurity"....root word being future.
The word "Futurity" is also used in horse racing....highlighting up and coming future horse racing stars....sometimes before they are even born.
Chess Futurities is the common term to refer to a chess tournament that features lower rated players who are looking to be where the top players are.....typically running parallel at the same time....like the Dayton Masters.
