Draw Offer

I have offered a draw but my clock is still ticking.  Should I make a move or will that cancel the draw offer?  I can't offer a draw when it is my oponents move.

you have to make the move

The draw offer remains in effect whether you move or not. However, your opponent can choose to wait for you to move before deciding whether or not to accept the draw.

Is that right? You can't make a draw offer when it's his turn?

If it's true it's really for the better, as draw offers are used for distraction and with effect.

It should be, offer a draw, THEN make your move (which is part of the information your opponent needs in considering your offer).

draw can be offered while its opponents move..

We are talking about draws on computers right ? The draw can be offered anytime, but you need to make the move in order for you adversary to respond - either with ''accept'' or ''reject'' , or with just a move.

Hi epoqueepique. You don't have to move in order for your opponent to see the offer. He will have to scroll down on the games list to see it because it will show as a game he Doesn't needs to take action on it. I have accepted draws on my opponents clock from time to time. Most times I will wait for the opponent to make a move on the off chance he doesn't realize his clock is still running😄

Hi britesorb, I think we are talking about 2 different things. My experience here is only with correspondence chess. Draw offers with a move, no clock :-)
