I'm confused

I recently finished a small tournament and I came in fourth.  :)  However, my confusion is that according to the standings I should have been third since I had the same points and a higher tie break than the person in third.

Can some please help me understand how this system works?

You won fewer rating points than third (37 vs 12?).  That symbolizes a stronger 'showing' / result, so it's more appropriate they receive the higher recognition.

You finished 4th in the final round.  That's the number that counts.
