Is it worth it?

I've recently started playing chess online and so far, have had a lot of fun. But I want to start getting rated and play chess more seriously. I looked at ECF (English Chess Federation).
A lot of their rated games before covid ofc, where at places no way near to where I live. I live in Northwest England and their rated games are in South England.
They offer online tournaments with ratings instead which are different to OTB. Is it even worth doing?
