Different tournaments have different rules. Often you get awared tie-break points based on the rating, or the match score, of the other players. Sometimes there is no tiebreak and the victory is split.
Last round question

Ok, can you please follow the link and tell me what you think can happen if we are all tie in the end?
It's hard to tell. The typical tiebreak score (based on your opponent's score in the current round of the tournament) would be tied, so the director would probably resort to the Nuestadt (sp?) tiebreak method which considers your opponents ratings as well. In that case the lowest rated person would win.

unless Elekhaundro wins 1.5 more games than it looks like you are going to win. right now under standings you have 26 wins (very impressive) and the tie break is not a factor unless the other guy matches your score. good work in the tourney

Here is the chart:
1. ![]() |
X | 1 1 | 0 _ | 2 | 4 |
2. ![]() |
0 0 | X | 1 1 | 2 | 2 |
3. ![]() |
_ 1 | 0 0 | X | 1 | 2 |
Now, when the final game is completed, the tie break scores will be recalculated. you get tie break according to how many games the others won that you beat; so if I won 1 game and you beat me, you'd earn a tie break score of 1.
In this case, if the last player wins the last game, the tie breaks AND the scores will all be equal.
That means, if elehaundro wins this last game, all 3 of you will advance to another round ...

Thanks Rob. So, if the current Pairing is tie then the important factor will be the overall score

I won first place in this tournament even though my score was less than the other guy. In this one I won because my tie breack was highest. So actually the deciding factor is the tie break

Yes, but in the case that all the tie breaks of the current round are the same, in the last round. What happen? Captain Pike post the chart, what if Elekhuandro won the game? We are gonna be all tie in the tie break.

tricky one, I'll follow this forum to see what happens probably just a split-win, but that would be cool to see an "overtime" match or something like a tiebreak

haha. No, I hope they decide depending on the total score.

Its just like what happen in the starfleet tournament, we play together in the last round and I did not won a single game.

I still dont know how I pulled that one off I'm in one now and winning by two points, but in this last round I'm afraid they will pass me up http://www.chess.com/tournament/imperial-banner-of-the-empress-audri-tournament
Ok, I am playing in the Round 6 of this tournament [http://www.chess.com/tournament/that-piece-dont-go-there]. Only 3 players left; Player A, Player B, Player C (you can see the real names in the link). Player A won two games agains Player B, Player B won two games against Player C, Player C won one game against Player A and the second game is not finished. My question is, if player C win the second game against Player A, all of us are gonna be in a tie, how does Chess.com decides who is the first, second and third position?
This is the sixth round, I think is the last one too. Take a look and please answer!!
Thanks!!!
