When a tournament gets created with say a <1600 setting nobody is allowed to join over that. And if someone's rating does go over that the system automatically removes them. However, when you invite a group to join a group tournament everyone gets invited which is fine but then the rating settings become obsolete. I am currently hosting 2 team tourneys and the people in the <1600 tourney want to know why they are playing people with a much higher rating. This needs changing desperately so that people within a certain rating can't join lower rated tourneys
For member-created tournaments, the Tournament Director has to remove players manually prior to the start. (For a non-group tournament, you can set the rating limit to 1550 so there are fewer removals.)
During the tournament players can improve. Set a high completed games limit, more than the default five games. Perhaps 255 games completed so there is some confidence the ratings are reliable.
