Timelessness of Chess

Dear chess friend,

nice that you have found this, in my opinion, special tournament - Timelessness of Chess. Take a moment and let me explain the idea behind it.

The world we live in is changing ever faster and, in my opinion, ever more far-reaching. Three examples of many: Wars are changing the balance of power on the planet, our climate is changing (which has an impact on every aspect of our existence) and the rapid development of AI is completely transforming (working) life.

We are confronted with so many new things every day. Isn't it nice that there is something that - compared to the constant changes - seems almost static, changes very little and therefore gives us a pleasant stability that guarantees a certain stability? Our game of chess.

In order to emphasise this timelessness of chess, I have designed this tournament; a calm and constant tournament designed to last for many years. Something that will accompany us for a very long time, from the world of today to a completely new world that will take shape in the years to come.

An artefact that you can take with you into the future to remember a past 2025 when you make a move.

Would you like to get involved? Then I look forward to your registration!

Wow, @Blubbersumpf—this is such a beautifully written post 👏

I love the message behind this. In a world where everything’s shifting at lightning speed—AI, climate, geopolitics—it is comforting to know there’s something as steady and timeless as chess. The pieces haven’t changed, the rules haven’t changed, and yet every game is still fresh and full of discovery. That’s kind of magical when you think about it.

The idea of a tournament that stretches calmly through the years, slowly unfolding like a time capsule from 2025, is incredibly poetic. It’s like a reminder that not everything has to be rushed. We can still slow down, think deeply, and appreciate the quiet brilliance of the game.

I’m intrigued by this concept and will check out the link—thanks for bringing a little philosophy and reflection into the chess world 🌍♟️
