There is a box there when you create it that asks you how many players you want in the tournament.
tournament question

What do you mean by group?? There is only one group, your creating it, and your picking the size. Maybe I should ask you what your trying to do first....

no, there can be more than one group in a tournament

If your creating a tournament, you may choose how many people you want in the group and decide if you want the tournament to be a 1 or 2 game tournament. If you want the group size to be 10, then everyone will play 8 games with each other, one in white one in black. But there is only one group. If you want it to be 25 in the group and it's a 2 game tournament, then everyone will play 48 games with each other. But only one group.. The computer will set up the games and you just try to eliminate each other until there is only one left standing, thats your winner.

You want a team tournament then...okay same thing , when you go to create it it will ask you how many you want in it and just put in your number, it will be the same for both sides.

It's still one group just 2 teams are playing. You pick the number of players. If you want 5 from your side the computer will set up 5 for their side.

It sounds as if you talking more of a team match than a tournament...In a tournament, you cant play aganinst another team, nut in a team match you can, is that what your talking about? A team match?

A tournament cannot be set up for two teans to play against each other. That is a team match your talking about and you again are picking the number of players you want to play. If you think otherwise, click on tournaments, when the next page comes up click on show advanced options. A tournament is not a team thing, but a team match is. You can set up a team match from your groups homepage, you are a superadmin.

you know the huge tournaments (i.e. official chess.com)?
i think he is talking about those groups
and as far as my knowledge extends, anybody at or below Gold member status CANNOT create tournaments with 12 players or more (7, I think for basic)
And so therefore it is one big group

he means things as tournaments for 30 people divided in groups of 3 i guess so each player plays 4 games, i guess he wishes to know how to change it into groups of 3 or 4 etc..

thanks for the info!

It limits the size of people you can invite only. If your Not a paying member, you may only invite 7 people in your tournament. If your a gold member you may only invite 12 players. That just the totals you may invite at what ever level your at in the membership. But its still one group of people even if its only 7. That would be 12 games per person in the tournamet to play until there is a winner. If You a gold member then the games would be 22 per person to play until its over. So you are limited to how many you can invite. That is the number you put in the tournament box when you create it. Then you just wait until it's full and it will start automatically. If your a platinum or diamond member you can set the number at whatever you want. Now that I understand what your talking about, it made it easier to answer. So now that you have the information, go create yourself a tournament. Good luck, I hope you win it.
when creating a tournament, how do you control the number of players in a group, thanks, your answers are appreciated.
