In Chess.com tournaments, any tournament with fewer than 8 players
will only have 1 winner. Tournaments with 8 or more players will
have 1st - 3rd place.

That answers my question but I ah a follow up. I have been in tournaments with less than five players where trophies have been given out, granted they were not custom trophies, this must be the difference. In my case they were custom trophies.

I created a tournament with custom trophies. The tournament had five players in total. After the tournament, only the winner received a trophy even though custom trophies were loaded at the time the tournament was set up. I am wondering why that is the case. I have been in tournaments with only 5 players and the first three places did receive trophies. Can anyone explain what happened. TIA
