I don't know if they do or not, they still have some correspondence chess stuff on their website, but it doesn't look like it's been update much recently. Maybe it is dead.
USCF correspondence tournaments?
I joined USCF a month ago because I'm going to play an OTB tournament in August. I also heard there was USCF rated quick chess at World Chess Live, but I decided I didn't like that place much.
Would be really nice to play some USCF rated games here. I don't know why it matters, but I would like an "official" rating, as low as mine would be.
I had seen the same stuff on their site meanpc and FirebrandX, and was wondering how active this was myself. Thanks for the update!
Another update: I entered a Correspondence tourney at USCF. It is in the USCF shop. Currently playing in a swift quad.
Still playing the swift quad...emailing moves back and forth is a major PITA.
It's a shame we can't play these USCF correspondence events on chess.com....would be perfect. I imagine if my opponent agreed to it, we could. It would be better if USCF set the matches up to be played here though.
Somebody from chess.com ought to contact the USCF and see if a mutually beneficial deal could be struck here. I'll bet chess.com and uscf could both pick up a few memberships.
doubt it. not much advantage of chess.com over iccf.
Stick with email or iccf.
I'm not familiar with iccf...do they have a client to play correspondence chess on? Chess.com's correspondence chess is far superior to using email.
What do you mean they allow engine use? They allow players to use chess engines? Or are you talking about front ends for the client? I'm confused.
Let's be clear.
USCF holds its Muir eQuads on the ICCF servers (like playing long games here at chess.com, or Gameknot, etc.) The results count as official USCF CC ratings. Four players play two games each against three opponents. No extra charge for joining ICCF, and the quads cost only $7 entry fee.
Normally ICCF allows engines in most of its games ... BUT USCF DOES NOT ALLOW ENGINES IN USCF GAMES ON ICCF SERVERS.
That's not garbage at all. These players are just allowed to play with engine support, which of course demands special skills - and I'd expect the games played there by masters to be of extremely high quality.
Would it ever be possible for chess.com to host USCF rated correspondence tournaments? I would have to think the USCF would love to do it, as it might boost their membership. Maybe chess.com could work out an affiliate deal with USCF and get a percentage of the signups?
