Different player pools. Honestly, I think the ratings on chess.com tend to be somewhat inflated, anyway.
Also a single loss against a weak(er) opponent doesn't mean much with regard to your general playing strength or rating.

My current chess.com standard rating is 1418, and I have beaten a few 1500+ rated players so far. But at my first tournament last week, I lost to a 987 CFC rated player. How does this make sense?
