Hello, I am in my first Chess.com tournament, the 5th chess.com tournament, i think it was for all plays >1300 rating.

As of right now, I have done very well.  I am in group #46, and I have a score of 6, with a tiebreak of 8, so I am 2nd in my group.  The one game I have not finished is with the kid who has a score of 6, with a tiebreak of 12.  Him and I have an ongoing game right now, I have a queen and a king, he has a king and a pawn.  I just made a move that forces his king away from his pawn, so I will cap the pawn, and then proceed to checkmate.  I am being careful not to statelmate him but I am absolutley sure I will have this win, no way he can win with just a king.

Unfortunatley, he ignored the game once he realized he was going to lose.  He has since just put on his "vacation" time since he knows he is going to lose.  He has 1 month of vacation time left.  So my question is, can he just wait me out until the tiebreaker gives him the win? or is he going to HAVE to finish the game?  Since he is not very respectable he is not going to resign.

thanks

The first round of a tournament will not conclude until all first round games are completed. Your game MUST be completed. But beware, some people on the site are sneaky. When about to lose, they go on vacation, hope you will forget about the game, then they sneak back and make a move. If you have forgotten about the game, you may lose on time. It is a very underhanded thing to do. Be careful of the time controls for the game. This sneak attack I described is much easier to do in 1-day games. Just make sure you don't forget about your game and keep checking to see if he is still on vacation or has finally made a move.

Ask Chess.com to declare the game won.

It's abuse of vacation imo; despite it being Xmas.

Chess is about strategy and tactics... This is one of them.

It's not about abusing site features.

Terrible logic and a really stupid thing to say.
