Here are some pictures from the first round, which was played Friday night:

The beautiful, professional set up is impressive for the first tournament organized by the Metropolitan Chess Club, TD Michael Belcher, and Ankit Gupta.

More professionalism in the organization: drinks are provided.

WFM Tatev Abrahamyan's great focus may be the reason for her great results this past year!

First round results:

Tatev Abrahamyan (1) - Konstantin Kavutskiy (0)
Ankit Gupta (0) - Zhanibek Amanov (1)
Enrico Sevillano (1/2) - Joel Banawa (1/2)
Timothy Taylor (0) - Roman Yankovsky (1)

Round 2 results:

Kretchetov - Amanov 1/2
Yankovsky - Sevillano 1/2
Banawa - Gupta 1/2
Kavutskiy - Taylor 1-0
Manukyan - Abrahamyan 1/2

The game Kavutskiy-Taylor was an impressive game. All games for rounds 3+4 will be available in PGN tonight.

I will update this story with some more info during the day. Let us know if you find the event exciting, and would like to see more tournaments like this broadcast on chess.com.
