Can MVL Break The Puzzle Rush Record Tuesday?
The super grandmaster Maxime Vachier-Lagrave will try to stand atop one of Chess.com's most prestigious leaderboards in an effort to break the Puzzle Rush high score tomorrow.
Chess fans can watch the record-breaking attempt live this Tuesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. PST (2 p.m. EST, 7 p.m. GMT) on Twitch.tv/mvlchess and Chess.com/TV as MVL will stream his Puzzle Rush session, solving increasingly difficult chess problems as quickly as he can, and doing his own commentary.
The current record of 55 is held by Hikaru Nakamura and the anonymous GM @spicycaterpillar.
MVL's Puzzle Rush show will act as the lead-in for Chess.com's monthly Titled Tuesday tournament, which is expected to showcase 500 titled players battling for their share of cash at 1 p.m. PST exclusively on Twitch.tv/chess and ChessTV.
Nakamura set the current record of 55 on November 23 last year, and though many have tried, no one has managed to surpass Hikaru's monster score. Vachier-Lagrave hopes to make history and has been training relentlessly in his attempt to overtake Hikaru in what would surely become a Puzzle Rush rivalry between the two super-grandmasters.
MVL and Nakamura will do battle more directly later this month as top boards in the USA-vs-France Team Chess Battle. Nakamura will pair with IM Daniel Rensch to battle for the United States, while MVL partners with the online chess star NM Kevin Bordi ("Blitzstream") to fight for France on March 15.
Will MVL reign supreme and best Nakamura's record this Tuesday, or will Nakamura solidify his status as the greatest Puzzle Rusher of all time? Watch live on Tuesday, March 5 at 11 am PST on Twitch.tv/mvlchess and Chess.com/TV.
