
Chess.com Month in Review: July 2020
Hey, chess fans! August is upon us, and it's time to take stock of the month that was! Here's a look at July 2020 and what our product-development, support and fairplay teams were working on!...
Web
- We added a new Fast option for move animation. The only thing faster is no animation at all! Visit your board settings and give it a try (under "Animation Type").
- You can now premove vs a Puzzle - if you're fast enough!
- Book Awards now include a link to learn more about the opening played...
- Added commands to Club and ChessTV Chat. Type "/" to see the list!
- Added animation to several more of the QuickLink panels that you may configure to appear on your home page. (Go to your Home page, and select "Home Settings" in the panel at upper right to configure yours!)
- Lots of work on a brand new interface for Lessons, which we are releasing very soon!
- Added & improved pagination on the Saved Analysis page, where necessary.
- Offensive terms are now filtered from Profile fields (e.g. Name, About, Location) as well as chat, etc.
- We have nearly finished our new post-game analysis walk-through feature: Key Moments. In fact, it went into Beta!
- Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented large tournaments from being started manually.
- Made some improvements to Club Audit Logs, including linking usernames to the players' profiles
- We made some visual improvements to several of our Analysis pages, including simplifying the background colors.
- After much work and experimentation (and feedback from our excellent members!) we updated the chessboard code used for Puzzles!
- Improvements to the Automate, where players create their own custom armies, and the computer decides who wins!
- We added a new cinematic-style Focus layout that moves player info & clocks to the left to make room for a bigger board... Use Play (Beta) in the navigation menu to check it out!
Fair Play & Sportsmanship
- 127,417,878 games reviewed for fair play.
- 5,288,318 accounts reviewed for fair play.
- 15,130 accounts closed for fair play (including 14 titled players).
- 690,136 abuse reports received.
- 54,930 mute actions taken.
- 46,297 individual accounts muted.
- 87,200 accounts closed for abuse.
Member Support
- Average time to first response: 3 days, 6 hours.
- Total support responses: 27,938.
- Average quality by member rating: 93.1 / 100.
- Total ratings: 3,549.
