Chess.com is proud to announce our partnership with the Charlotte Chess Center! Founded in 2014, one of the most influential centers in the US is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. We are ecstatic to work with an incredible over-the-board organizer like the Charlotte Chess Center and bring the best of online chess to the impactful experiences of in-person events.

The Charlotte Chess Center (CCC), widely recognized as one of the top chess clubs/centers in the country was recipient of the 2019 “Chess Club of the Year” by the US Chess Federation. The CCC is known for organizing the US Masters, GM/IM Norm Invitational Tournaments, ChessKid National Festival, and more. Up-and-coming talents normally traveled outside of the country to compete for their international and grandmaster titles. The numerous norm events hosted by the CCC have paved the way for the growth of young stars without the financial burden of traveling abroad for each norm.

Gathered by the love of the game.

The CCC works with grandmasters such as Daniel Naroditsky, Olexandr Bortnyk, Ashwin Jayaram, WGM Dina Belenkaya, and a complete team of dedicated and passionate coaches who contribute instructional experiences for all to enjoy. Fantastic streamers and content creators play and cover events like these and it is a pleasure for Chess.com to add support.

The first over-the-board partnership between the CCC and Chess.com will be the upcoming 8th Annual Carolina Classic, June 7-9, at the Hilton Charlotte University Place Hotel where legends and trainers like GMs Judit Polgar, RB Ramesh, Veselin Topalov, and Daniel Naroditsky will grace the halls with a book signing and autograph session.

The Carolinas Classic will attract more than 400 competitors of all levels. Later in the year, the much-anticipated 2024 US Masters, held over Thanksgiving weekend, November 27-December 1, will also be covered.

Whether you are playing the main event or taking part in the side events, come by and say hello!

Chess.com wishes to nourish the positive impact of over-the-board events not exclusive to top invitationals or online tournaments. Over the last decade, The Charlotte Chess Center has made a strong impression on the entire Southeast community, offering incredible opportunities for scholastic players as well as the general public from their academy classes, chess camps, school programs, and tournaments/events

Students of today, stars of the future.

Cooperating with established events like these are integral to the US chess culture and we wish to cultivate that culture both online and over-the-board. Rising stars are constantly emerging and it is our pleasure to support and witness that ascent. Partnerships with centers and organizations motivated by that mission will only strengthen the passion people have for this game across the country!
