arkadij naiditsch3.jpgGerman #1 Arkadij Naiditsch (pictured) narrowly defeated the Ukrainian Zahar Efimenko 3.5-2.5 in a match in Mukachevo, Ukraine from 12-18 August.

The match was part of a larger chess festival with many other events for players at all levels.

In a chess world filled with tournaments galore it's good to see some head-to-head matches from time-to-time.  Last year Efimenko lost by the same score to English GM Nigel Short.

In an evenly matched contest, a win in game two by Naiditsch proved enough to secure the match victory.
