Young Prodigies FM Tani Adewumi, IM Yagiz Erdogmus Face Off
FM Tani Adewumi is scheduled to play against fellow young chess sensation IM Yagiz Erdogmus at 7 a.m. Pacific Time/16:00 Central European Time on November 20 in the next episode of his regular ChessKid series "Tani vs. The World."
Erdogmus is an 11-year-old IM from Turkey who recently won the 2022 ChessKid Youth Speed Chess Championship in a convincing manner, defeating CM Ilan Schnaider 10-4 in the final. He is also the world's top-rated player aged 12 and under (2453).
Adewumi’s goal is to become the world’s youngest-ever GM, and he has had a remarkable journey on his way to becoming a chess master.
He recently earned his third IM norm this past weekend (after achieving his second in July this year), but still needs to earn one more from a Swiss and reach 2400 to receive the title. After that recent event, he is now top 12 in the world for ages 12 and under.
The match between these two talented young players will be shown on Chess.com/TV, Twitch.tv/chesskid, and Youtube.com/chesskidofficial.
"Tani vs. the World" is an ongoing series of practice matches in which Adewumi plays titled opponents. Guest opponents so far include IM Justus Williams, IM Kostya Kavutskiy, and GM Jesse Kraai.
Hosting and commentary will be provided by FM Mike Klein (FunMasterMike) and Nigarhan Gurpinar (also known as Naycir on Twitch).
Be sure to tune in at 7 a.m. Pacific Time/16:00 Central European Time on November 20! You can watch the event on Chess.com/TV, Twitch.tv/chesskid, and Youtube.com/chesskidofficial.
