Karen Asrian was an Armenian grandmaster and a three-time Armenian champion. Asrian was also a part of the national team that won the gold medal in the 2006 Chess Olympiad.
Asrian earned his international master title in 1997 and became a grandmaster just a year later. He was one of the leading Armenian players and won the country's championships in 1999, 2007, and 2008. He passed away at the age of 28.
