IM Lawrence Trent is a British chess player and commentator. He earned his IM title in 2005 after a strong youth career and currently holds two GM norms. He was a quarterfinalist in both the inaugural Chess.com IM Speed Chess Championship in 2020 and the 2021 edition. He also created a Chess.com course on Chess Psychology in 2018.
As a commentator, Trent was on the official call with GM Susan Polgar and fellow IM Tania Sachdev when GM Magnus Carlsen defeated GM Viswanathan Anand to become the world chess champion in 2013. To this day, Trent can often be found in the commentary room for major chess events.
