Bio

Milan Vidmar was a Slovenian grandmaster, Nordic chess champion (1909), Yugoslavian chess champion (1939), chess arbiter, and university dean with a PhD in electrical engineering.

Among Vidmar's accomplishments at a chess board was his share of first place with Alexander Alekhine at Hastings 1925/26. Vidmar was also the chief referee at the 1948 World Championship, and became one of the first 27 players to receive the grandmaster title in 1950.
