The name Sachdev is a patronymic, and the player should be referred to by her name, Tania.

Tania Sachdev is an Indian woman grandmaster and international master, commentator, content creator, and a Red Bull-sponsored athlete. Tania had astronomic success as a young chess player, winning the U12 Indian championship in 1998, the Asian U14 Girls championship in 2000, and the Asian U20 Girls in 2002.

In 2005, Tania became the eighth Indian to earn the woman grandmaster title. In the following two years, she won the Indian Women's Championship title. Tania also won the Women's Asian Chess Championship in 2007 and earned the international master title in 2008. A year later, she won the prestigious Arjuna Award—an accolade she shares with the Indian legend GM Viswanathan Anand.

Tania was an official commentator for the 2013 World Championship between Anand and GM Magnus Carlsen. In addition to her continued commentary for Chess24 and Chess.com, Tania played in the 45th Chess Olympiad for the gold-winning Indian women's team. She scored 3.5/5 on the reserve board.
