2019 World Series Of Chess To Be Continued In New Event

whirlwind2011 | Aug 1, 2020, 11:00 AM

I announce with regret that, due to a mix-up, the 2019 World Series of Chess is no longer qualified to continue with its current remaining active roster of players.

The Kansas City Royals and Colorado Rockies earned advancement to Round 3 by scoring 6 out of 6 and 3 out of 6, respectively. The San Francisco Giants (2 out of 6) and Seattle Mariners (1 out of 6) were eliminated. However, because the player representing the Royals chose to withdraw prior to the start of Round 3, the Rockies were the only team that should have advanced from that group.

Since no further adjustments can be made to the roster at this time, I am starting a new event that will enable the conclusion of the 2019 World Series of Chess pursuant to determining a champion.

The players who represent the Colorado Rockies (jimprideaux), Washington Nationals (whirlwind2011), Arizona Diamondbacks (jayzorac), Cincinnati Reds (tazmanick), and Los Angeles Angels (tyfletch) will be invited to this new event. A new player will be found to represent the Kansas City Royals, as well.

I will create this new event today. Please accept your invitation and continue your quest to become the 2019 World Series of Chess champion!
