This is a qualifying event for the 2026 Intercontinental Championship. The winners of each qualifying section (Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania) will be invited to take part in a 6-player round-robin finals event.
There are strict entry requirements to reduce the chance of cheating, timeouts and slow play:
- Minimum 100 daily games played
- Max timeout % = 10%
- Player move speed = Average less than 12 hours per move.
In the qualifiers, you will join groups of 5, with one player progressing to the next round until there is a tournament winner. You may only join one qualifying event, and it must correspond to the flag on your chess.com profile. For example, I have a China flag, so may only enter the Asian qualifying section. Players with a Turkish or blocked Russian flag may enter Europe or Asia qualifying. Players with ambiguous flags (e.g. International/Olympic) may not enter this tournament.
The qualifying tournaments will begin on Saturday 16th May. Good luck to all who join.
