Frequently Asked Questions
What is a "Quick Knockouts" tournament?
This aims to be a rapid tournament; therefore all moves must be played within 24 hours of an opponents move and vacation time is not allowed. This prevents any one user from delaying round advancement significantly.
What does "Small Groups" mean?
Groups are limited to 3 competitors, a rather small group size for most tournaments. Additionally, only the top-performing competitor of each group advances to the next round, ensuring we can start the next tournament for all users as quickly as possible. Tie-Breaks are in use to promote the best player of each round, when necessary.
When does the tournament start?
The tournament will start when at least 60-competitors have joined the roster or 30-days after the tournament is created, whichever is later. This can sometimes take some time, so sign up and we will let you know when we are expecting to start!
How is the Under-1000 level requirement enforced?
This tournament is for under-1000 players only. We are strict in our policing to create a fair playing field for all tournament members. If you meet any of the following criteria, please do not join this tournament or you will be removed:
- You are rated above 1,000 in daily play;
- You are rated 1,100 or higher in any variation (e.g., rapid, blitz, bullet) and do not have enough play in the daily category to adequately measure your daily performance; or,
- You are rated 1,100 or higher in any two variations, regardless of your daily performance
Any users identified to have met this criteria prior to tournament start will be asked to withdraw or forcibly removed. Any users who join who that are clearly sandbagging will also be reported. Please note, this does not mean that users who cross the 1,000 threshold during the tournament play will have action taken against them - this only applies to account states prior to the tournament starting.
We encourage users of higher levels of play to join one of our Chiberia tournaments directed at those levels.
Generally, we will use our best judgement in these situations to get a clear picture as to whether you are expected to fairly play in this field on a case-by-case basis. Our entire goal is to create a fair playing field for players.
Any questions on tournament policies should be directed to the tournament forum.
