Continuing the theme of rare openings here is the Englund or Charlick Gambit :)  I have used this once and found it interesting, almost as interesting as the look on my opponents face when they saw my 1st move! ;)   It is not considered a sound opening... however i believe it is possible to win with it. It could be a good weapon to have fer Blitz games, unsettling yer opponent, so worth learning, and as always, with a chuckle :)

"The Englund Gambit is a rarely played chess opening that starts with the moves

1. d4 e5?!
It is also known as the Charlick Gambit after Australian Henry Charlick (1845–1916) who introduced it in the early 1890s. Charlick became the second chess champion of Australia in 1897. Swedish player Fritz Carl Anton Englund (1871–1933) also played this opening." (from wikipedia)
