Round 2 will begin shortly!
Hi all. Well, as I am writing thing the very last game which has been holding us up (located here: http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=7970641) is nearly done. The "holdout" player (who is anyway stuck in a two-move mating net) is nearly out of vacation time (21 hours remaining as of this announcement) and move time. So.... hang on tight, round 2 will begin shortly.
Aside, I have created a second tourny (as of this posting it is 40% filled) with a 1 day/move limit, which will create a much more rapid tournament. Please feel free to join.. it is open to all levels.

Good day.
Just a short note to check in on Friday (26 September) and let you know that Round #2 will begin imminently. As of today, 19 of the 20 groups in Round #1 are completed. We are waiting for only two games to finish in the final group, and then Round #2 will begin. Good luck.

Round 1 nearly complete.
Hi all.
Just a quick check-in as Round 1 seems to be drawing to a close and we'll soon see who advances to Round 2. Most players have only one or two games remaining in Round 1.
Group #12 has already completed the first round, with jamjosh, bigfoot318 and count001 all advancing to Round 2. Unfortunately, bjordan and Terlimone have been eliminated from future rounds of this tourney, but there will be future ones to join. :)
