The King’s Gambit is part of the mythology of chess. For more than a hundred year’s this opening has represented a lost golden age, a nobler past of swashbuckling sacrifice and gung-ho attack, when few players were unsporting enough to defend correctly. With 2.f4 white stakes a pawn for a dominating centre and attacking chances against f7, utilising the open f-file. White may have problems with his own king safety though…Black has four ways to react: accept and hold the pawn; accept and return the pawn; decline the pawn; offer a countergambit. Nick de Firmian

Some nice videos I will be using to prepare for the tournament…

slow play

agmchessinho | Sep 19, 2019, 1:21 PM

Slow players may be removed from the tournament.

Slow play includes taking full 48 hours per move, even where sequences are forced and are part of an obvious combination, or the position is completely lost. Such tactics cold be seen as an attempt to prolong the game to increase the chance of opponent time-outs. Where players are prolonging games weeks or months beyond the point all other players have completed their games, despite having lost positions, or having already qualified for the next round, or already not being able to qualify for next round, may be removed from the tournament without further warning.
