This is a "No Vacation" tournament!
The September GeoChess; Rook Edition is for players with ratings under 1400. In this month's edition, dedicated to our FIFA World Cup winner, there is a 40% advance rate with medium-sized groups (5(2)->2) and so you'll begin with eight simultaneous games per round. Only players with more than 100 games, less than an average of 12 hours per move, and less than a 3% time-out rate may join. This is also a premium-only tournament and there is no vacation time. I reserve the right to boot players who don't meet these rules at the beginning of the game or whose ratings exceed 1450 (it's a bit above the maximum rating to give players a little wiggle room with ratings fluctuations).
One of the ideas behind this series is that these fairly strict rules serve to improve the tournament in terms of fewer dropouts and less general wonkiness; it worked fairly well in the past when I last ran these regularly (circa 2014~2016). If these go well, I'll try to set up a new tournament dedicated to a different country every month on the 15th.
This tournament will not start until September 15th, 2018. I will not start the tournament if it fills before then (so that players can plan on a starting date). I plan to start this one sometime on the 15th regardless of how many players are enrolled. You are also welcome to register for the standard edition of the tournament (at this link).
