Now, for a brief word on the King's Gambit opening:
1. e4 e5
2. f4 ...
For those who are already familiar with the king's gambit, welcome!
For those who are not familiar, welcome as well! But be careful...
The king's gambit has many hidden traps, from the very beginning. So, choose your moves wisely, otherwise you might get crushed. Or not! That's the beauty of it. It is a very double-edged opening, full of suprises!
For those who don't know anything about the king's gambit, take a look at some videos from here, or google it to find some information (for example, try chessopenings.com). You can also try the game explorer to see how masters normally play this opening.
In brief, as Black, you can accept the gambit (by 2... exf4) or counter-attack (by 2. ... d5), or decline (by 2. ... Bc5 or Nc6, for example).
As White, it is useful to consider possible sacrifices, for example, the king's knight against f7 pawn. Because one of the ideas is to develop fast, while disrupting Black's kingside structure.
So, welcome all, and hope we get nice games here!
