This is a "No Vacation" tournament!

The group's final studio release, Let It Be, was actually recorded before Abbey Road, but was set aside and then released a few weeks after the band's decision to split had been made official.

Here, the group worked on recording with no studio effects or overdubbing of additional instruments or vocals. Their intention was to perform the songs live and capture them directly on tape. This approach provides soulful urgency in "Dig a Pony" and "I've Got a Feeling" (both aired during the band's final rooftop concert). The album also unearths some of The Beatles' rock 'n' roll roots with tracks such as "Get Back" and "One After 909."

Famed producer Phil Spector was eventually brought in, adding his own signature layers of sound to several songs, including two of the band's most popular ballads — the title track and "The Long and Winding Road."
