Aside from being a great writer, Vladimir Nabokov was also a brilliant chess composer, he even published a book containing both poems and chess problems. He wrote several books containing chess references, most notably The Luzhin Defence, the story of a chess genius.
Excellent covers of The Luzhin Defence in three languages are custom trophies in the tournament.
