This is a thematic tournament for players who want to play/practice the King's Indian Defence: Sämisch Variation. The starting position is as followed:

1.d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. f3 0-0

By playing this white system, white looks to secure his large pawn secure and opt for a kingside attack against black. This comes at a price for white in preventing the natural development of his knight on g1. Play often develops into interesting opposite-side castles and a race to wipe out the opposition's king

problems with the Samisch tournament

ThePawnSlayer | Jan 2, 2018, 4:33 PM

Hi all,

I have noticed there has been a big mistake in the samisch variation tournament where the starting position has been a blank board rather than the starting of the samisch.

I do apologise for this. If you wish to withdraw by all means do so (it will not affect your rating to do so). For those still playing can you all please play the following line: 1.d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. f3 0-0.  I understand that some players have already played a few moves and have not reached this position. As this is a practice tournament can we please make sure to play this line for future games against each other.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused
