that is one endgame for the live sessions hall of fame!
What. just. happened.
after rxf2 and bd4 kh1 does not seem like only move. wat if white moves n and attacks blk B?
I had to watch this 1 again... the super-lightning fast ending of the game will never cease to amaze me... just out of interest - do your live sessions "victims" know that their game is going to be up on the chess.com lectures!? I only say victims because you usually win... On a different note the way you converted the small endgame advantage into a win and explained it all in the post mortem was very instructive, when is the next live session!? :)
Yes, even IMs can make mistakes... too many to count normally !!!
Thanks for enjoying this one guys, and yeah, I can't draw instructional arrows during a game. No board online (anywhere) allows that, and if you think about it, it would kind of be cheating.
It would normally be possible if he was just showing us a game in an analysis board but since it is a live session I believe he can't use arrows while playing.
Very nice! Learned some great stuff about the endgame from this one. And about the Blumenfeld ... I'd go QID or Bogo Indian myself but it's good to see the other stuff. Nice job and thank you! You're too cool for school IM D.R!
An amazing "Live Sessions" for sure! I do enjoy these longer lectures because the post mortem teaches me and others at club level so much, please keep them coming Danny
Dan is the man!
Danny is there anyway you can do a dual live sessions video? Where we can get both black and whites POV??
cool, real cool man
wow even IM's can make mistakes
Wow..glad that person ahead of me said wow, because I don't sound or feel so immature! Wow.. what an ending! Now, if that had been me, I would have made the wrong decision under pressure and lost a won game. (as I call them).
Great video and great to hear HOw a good player thinks during an end game!
I really enjoy the live games and I am looking forward to your next game. Thanks.
Hey Danny, good stuff as always. It was cool to see how comfortable you were sacrificing pawns for piece activity and trusting that you were getting the right compensation without immediate plans to win it back.
One question... In the Rxf2 calculations, how does black convert after ...g4! h4 gxh3 ep? You evaluate it as "white resigns", but I admit that it's not so obvious to me how black would seal the deal here, even up 2 pawns. Is there some trick to queen the h pawn I am missing? My goal position for white is to trade the g3 pawn, the knight and the rook for black's f pawn and rook... is it hopeless to achieve this?
Thanks for the lesson.
ps. Rxf2 Rxa4 Bd4 Kh1 Rf1+?! Kg2 Rg1+ Kf3 seems like a good way to save yourself some time looking for mating nets in this line. You can probably evaluate this position as better for black but worse then keeping the outside passer without any further calculation.
Aw, people, don't ruin the outcome for those who haven't seen it. That was some nail-biting, roller coaster, edge of your seat to on your feet, lightsaber-wielding action.
Not that I mind at all about them coming out on other days, but personally I would love to see a Live Sessions come out every Friday. As a working-guy on lunch who just had a crummy Monday morning, having reliable, dependable Live Sessions to look forward to at 5 or 6 pm every Friday would be ideal. I admit that kicking off my weekend with a 25-45 min, pre-packaged Live chess throw-down would make me thrilled. I definitely appreciate everything else on chess.com, but Live Sessions was what initially sold me on a premium membership and remains the biggest draw for me.
Great video, great game! I actually saw the g4 move while you were playing, I saw the pattern in tactics trainer before :D
AWESOME WIN dan dan the flying man
by IM Daniel Rensch
In this Live Session match Danny relies on an "old friend" (Blumendfeld Gambit) to get the job done! After a series of tricky tactics in the opening, the game quickly simplifies into a Rook and Bishop vs Rook and Knight endgame with a lone passed pawn to Poppa Bear's advantage. Does Danny convert the victory, or does he allow kingside counterplay that can't be stopped? Watch and find out...
