The Journey of a Chess Novice part 10

Submitted by Gokukid on Sun Jan 3, 2010 3:35pm.

Okay, I continue.  Frankly, I felt somewhat embarrassed to have annotated that Opening Sequence in the previous blog part (part 9).  The annotation just come from me, someone in a real world, is not an authority on Opening Theories.  But I stil... Read more »

Speed Tournament 1/6: 6. game

Submitted by jimthemagic on Sun Jan 3, 2010 2:21pm.

The sixth game of the tournament was quite interesting as well. Having an upper hand for quite a while I can not be too satisfied with the result. Now half of my games is played and I got 4 points out of 6 - not too good, but quite alright. Read more »

Attacking the queen.

The Journey of a Chess Novice part 9

Submitted by Gokukid on Sun Jan 3, 2010 1:09pm.

Trompowsky

Submitted by hypertroll on Sun Jan 3, 2010 1:07pm.

I've noticed more and more that this perfectly respectable opening seems to have got itself a bad reputation from somewhere, and that people think i'm mad/laugh at me for playing it on a regular basis. So i'm now going to set out to defend it, wit... Read more »

The Journey of a Chess Novice part 8

Submitted by Gokukid on Sun Jan 3, 2010 12:17pm.

In our country chess is barely played on streets.  In my college days I would go to a chess park in Luneta to play some hustler's chess game.  But that place was a bit scary since I knew no one there, and most players were hustlers and haggard-l... Read more »

The Journey of a Chess Novice part 7

Submitted by Gokukid on Sun Jan 3, 2010 11:11am.

Right now I am playing chess via the iphone app and noticed that I am losing quite badly.  Perhaps I should study the opening I am using so that it doesn't lead to such a tragic end. As a side note the golden ratio is an amazing ratio. Read more »
