Pulling out the Scotch
As I sip on a little bit of Johnnie Walker in a toast to my worthy opponent, I keep thinking there is nothing like a good Scotch (and Scotch game). My opponent put up quite a fight, but I managed to squeak by. He lost some time trying to find an effective square for his Knight, which allowed me to eventually put a rook on the 7th rank. I remembered from last year’s reading of Nimzowitsch’s book, My System, that getting my rooks lined up along the seventh rank is something to shoot for, and in this case it appeared to give me a winning advantage. That’s just how it turned out in this game. My opponent found the most resistant defensive lines along the way, but I finally managed to bring it home. My glass is raised to you, PlayChessWithASmile.
