I'm not sure what happened in round 1. I have it recorded as a loss in the scorebook I apparently bought between rounds 1 and 2, so round 1 was likely written on a loose sheet of paper and lost.
Game #13, Round 1: loss (unknown color/opponent)
This is, I think, my only rated game playing the French Defence (albiet by transposition). I don't have any recolection of ever studying it and may have played it in this game out of curiosity. I was still trying to find my game at this point and would experiment with various openings and ideas. I will say that, without the advanced knowledge of this system that I possess today, this game seemed to possess a very natural flow for me. I wonder if this is an opening I could look into revisiting and picking up again now. The only thing I didn't do in this game that is built into standard theory was play for the c5 break. This was also my first rated draw.
Game #14, Round 2:
Many of the players I faced while in the Under 1400 range were scholastic players. There's not much to say about some of these games except that I did a good job of taking the steady stream of en prix pieces offered by my opponent...
Game #15, Round 3:
- Recap: +1 =1 -1
- Rating: ??? -> ???
- Total: +4 =1 -10
- PKB: +2 =1 -7
