The main point of this post is to provide the reader with an interesting Sicilian novelty that will take your opponent out of book, and make an otherwise sharp Sicilian Defense more quiet and strategically oriented. It is not only 100% sound, but it also is a great opening for the repertoire of any serious player, and especially one without the time to keep up on the latest Najdorf or Dragon line. In addition to avoiding the typical main lines of the Sicilian Defense, this variation also sidesteps Alapin theory, and renders human MCOs bookless. I will now explain the ideas behind this variation.
Now for the homework. (Yes I know you were hoping to avoid this part
) I will give you an unannotated game played by 2 fairly strong players. It is your job to take some time and annotate it. Then if you like, (this is totally optional) you can post your annotations here for others to look at and discuss. Here is the game.
