My first competitive match

How to start your first blog is a tricky thing, so I'm just going to ignore it and move on to the thing that's causing me sleepless nights, my first competitive match.

I've been playing chess seriously for about 6 months now and have completely been bitten by the chess bug! My 2013 New Years resolution was to play chess at a club and enter some tournements. So far I've been to two club nights at my local chess club and am playing in my first league match tomorrow.

I don't know if it's just me but the thing I'm most worried about is the first couple of moves. If I'm white then e4 is my go to move. No worries there. The worries come if I'm black, any Queens pawn or English openings and I will be on uncertain ground. So today I have been spending my time researching these openings.

Fingers crossed I get white!
