Analysis of Hammerschlag

Many novice Bongcloud players are inspired by deep positional players like BM bresaro or BM jetfighter(though both have played several explosive games-BMs can play all positions well!). For those aspiring maneuverers, I always recommend them to look up Karpov's game against the Latvian Cloud, a perfect example of positional play, and also to start playing the Hammerschlag.

This thread aims to spark discussion about and to cover the main ideas and themes of the Hammerschlag Opening. Without further ado, let's begin.

As I mentioned in my analysis, the position after 11.d3 is very complicated. I tend to go for the h4 attack, but some of the BMs who dislike such direct moves prefer the d4 plan. They will later quietly build up their forces and crash through the center at the right time, or exchange to a superior Bong-endgame.

Here is a game by me versus a Bongcloud novice(I have sort of taken him under my wing and started teaching him basic Bongcloud strategy). He prefers to be identified by his online name, mistermist.

I play white.

Hmm, older theory has been scrapped, but as a Bongcloud enthusiast, these lines seem to be fun and sharp!

Don't mean to necro but aren't you dead on move 5 b/co Qh4+ which can lead to either a king hunt or a forced mate?
