This is a sort of petition so you just need to post a little reply not a long one, but if you feel like giving a lengthy one, by all means go ahead.
Conditional moves

I agree with Derek. I would like the staff to add something like "remember this moves for other games" or something similar. It would be very useful and would allow games to be played faster.

if that is really how you feel, you don't really need to be in this site! The bottom line here is to play people, not a machine... Your idea defeats the whole purpose of the site (& the game!!!).

yeah but Im just talking about the first 2 or 3 moves not the entire game so that we can get our openings out of the way with minimal fuss.

In that case, there are tournaments that start from move 3, 4 & even 5. Join one of those or start your own! But I'm personally not interested in that kind of setting because I see every game with different eyes & like to try different options.

your perfectly able to do that. this is just for people who dont want to have to reset conditional moves every game, and as for changing them, there should definitely be a way to do that.

I think it would be interesting to try the idea.
Also, it would be interesting to try a function such as "similiar e5 and c5 in this position."

Universal Conditional Moves were raised back on Wishlist 2 (post #163) http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/feature-requests-and-wishlist-thoughts-2?quote_id=1401437&page=9
You would have to specify a line from the starting position. You would be creating a chess bot, in effect. It would handle all the mundane aspects of the opening, and only call in you in when there was an interesting choice to make. Though superficially attractive, I suspect most players would not enjoy playing against such an opponent.

yeah but im not talking about playing a computer, i just meant that if you wanted to, you could set an opening for your game and change it whenever you want to.

Im not disagreeing with the idea, if you want to set your own opening for each game go right ahead.

of course, you would have to enter in the moves on the interface, you couldnt just pick an opening from list, that would require no skill at all.

Making this option available restricts chess learning. I'm sure you can all handle the three or four seconds it might take you to click on a piece and put it somewhere.

but for those of us with 5+ move openings for the people who use the same opening for each game, it would be very helpful to have an option where you can just set an opening that would be played everytime.

This is quite an interesting idea. I wonder if you could create several "opening books" and then name them separately (and edit them).

There could certainly be a psychological advantage to creating an elaborate tree -- your opponent might be pressured into making inferior moves in order to try and take your conditionals out of book after realizing that he's continuously playing into your opening after a long string of conditionals gets triggered.
Is there anyone else who thinks that we should be able to set conditonal moves that last over and over again from game to game, as opposed to having to reset them each time we play? Just for the opening mind, we cant have people going through a whole automated game. If you think that is a good idea, post here giving your consent.
